　　幸福的童年

　　童年啊！是夢中的真，是真中的夢，是回憶時含淚的微笑。

　　“可怕”的黑暗

　　任何的黑暗都無法籠罩一顆強大的心靈。黑暗并不可怕，可怕的是你內心的軟弱。心若是怯了，勇氣便也跟著喪失了，做什么事情便先自亂了陣腳。請擁有一顆勇敢的心，不要讓一片小小的陰影阻擋你人生的腳步。

　　“威利，你能到樓上，從柜子里把我的插針墊拿來嗎？”媽媽大聲說。

　　但是威利一點動靜也沒有。可能是威利沒有聽見吧。媽媽這樣想著又喊了一聲。

　　這次威利怯怯地說： “我怕！”

　　“怕什么？”媽媽問。

　　“那里很黑。”

　　“呵呵，我來告訴你黑暗是什么？”媽媽把手伸向燈與桌子上的針線籃之間。媽媽說。“現在籃子里是黑的，但只要我的手一移開，它馬上就會變亮了。”

　　“來呀，威利，站在燈和墻之間。看，威利！媽媽說。墻上只是你的影子。你覺得你的影子可以傷害你嗎？”媽媽微笑著問。

　　“當然不，媽媽！我確信它傷害不了我。”威利興奮地回答。

　　“對啊，黑暗只是籠罩世界的大影子。”

　　“那是什么弄出的大影子，媽媽？”威利好奇地問。

　　“我會告訴你的，威利，不過要等你再長大一些。現在，我想你是一個不再害怕影子的勇敢男孩了。你敢到樓上把我的插針墊拿來了吧。”

　　“當然，媽媽，我這就去拿給你。”很快，威利就把插針墊拿給了媽媽。

　　“謝謝，我勇敢的小男子漢。你看，黑暗并沒有傷害你！”媽媽說。

　　Afra in the Dark

　　"Willie, will you run upstairs, and get my needle book from the bureau?"

　　But Willie d not stir. "Willie!" sa mamma. She thought he had not heard。

　　"I'm afra," sa Willie。

　　"Afra of what?"

　　"It's dark up there."

　　"What is the dark?" asked mamma. "See! It is nothing but a shadow."

　　And she held her hand between the lamp and the workbasket on the table。

　　"Now it is dark in the basket; but as soon as I take my hand away, it is light."

　　"Come and stand between the lamp and the wall, Willie. See! There is your shadow on the wall. Can your shadow hurt you?"

　　"Oh no, mamma! I am sure it can not hurt me."

　　"Well, the dark is only a big shadow over everything."

　　"What makes the big shadow, mamma?"

　　"I will tell you all about that, Willie, when you are a little older. But now, I wish you would find me a brave boy who is not afra of shadows, to run upstairs and get my needlebook."

　　"I am brave, mamma. I will go.  — Here it is."

　　"Thank you, my brave little man. You see the dark dn't hurt you."
